QUESTION: What is it?
ANSWER: The Party-Pigâ
is a self contained beer packaging/dispensing
system. It replaces bottles and/or kegging systems for
packaging and serving beer. The Pigä
consists of an amber PET plastic bottle that holds
2.25 gallons (8.5 liters, which is equivalent to one case of
(24) 12-oz. containers) of beer, an integral dispensing valve
and a support tray and carrying strap.
QUESTION: Why would I want to sell my beer in it?
ANSWER: The Party-Pigâ
is a unique and appealing package that allows
access to new market segments and increased beer sales. It
allows you to move more beer with minimal capital investment.
Most brewers charge a deposit on the Pigä
and have a program to re-use the package numerous
times, thus making it a very economical but high quality
package.
QUESTION: Is it easy for the customer to use?
ANSWER: Yes! The customer can draw as much or as little as
they want at the push of a button. True "draft" beer
without the need for gas cylinders and regulators or pumps.
The beer maintains its carbonation regardless how long it
takes the customer to finish the Pigä
and the beer stays fresh since no oxygen ever comes
in contact with it.
QUESTION: How does it work?
ANSWER: The Party-Pigâ
uses a patented Pressure Pouch, inside the bottle
with the beer, which self inflates to a constant 15-20 pounds
per square inch of pressure and keeps the beer fresh and
carbonated for several months. The Pressure Pouch is not
attached to anything and floats freely inside the bottle. As
beer is dispensed the Pressure Pouch expands and eventually
completely fills the bottle. The Pressure Pouch contains food
grade chemicals that mix on demand to produce CO2
gas, which maintains pressure in the bottle. This gas remains
in the pouch and doesn't contact the beer.
QUESTION: How big is it?
ANSWER: The Pigä
is 9 inches in diameter and has an overall length
of 15 inches. Each Pigä
has its own carrying strap and support tray so it
is easy to carry and fits into most refrigerators.
QUESTION: How do I, as a craft brewer, fill it?
ANSWER: Simply put bright beer from your serving tanks into
the Party-Pigâ
bottle. This can be done directly from a beer
faucet or with the use of Quoin supplied equipment to counter
pressure fill the Pigä
bottle. Then insert the Pressure Pouch into the Pigä
bottle with the beer, attach the valve to the
bottle and activate the Pressure Pouch.
QUESTION: If the Party-Pigâ
is self pressurized, why do I need a CO2
system?
ANSWER: The Pressure Pouch is activated by pressurizing the
bottle. This pressure acts on a "trigger" inside the
Pressure Pouch and initiates the chemical reaction that
inflates the Pressure Pouch. When dealing with finished beer,
the bottle should first be flushed with CO2.
After beer is put into the Pigä
, the Pressure Pouch (which is pre-sterilized) is
inserted into the bottle and the valve is then attached to the
bottle. Then the Pressure Pouch is activated by pressurizing
the bottle to 10-15 pounds per square inch. This should be
done with CO2 to keep from oxidizing the
beer.
QUESTION: Will the bottle or Pressure Pouch affect the
flavor of my beer?
ANSWER: No! Everything that comes in contact with your beer
is FDA food grade material and will not impart any flavors to
the beer.
QUESTION: How many times can I reuse the Party-Pigâ
?
ANSWER: Everything is reusable except the Pressure Pouch.
Component life will vary depending on use, however, experience
has indicated that the components should last from ten to
twenty trips, or more. You will only need a new Pressure Pouch
for each use of the Pigä
. Replacement components are available from Quoin.
QUESTION: How easy is it to clean?
ANSWER: Since the bottle remains under pressure, even after
the beer is gone, no air or other contaminates enter the
bottle until you open it and remove the Pressure Pouch. Since
the contents do not dry out or cake, they are easy to clean.
Simply soak the bottle and valve in an alkaline cleanser,
rinse with hot water and re-sterilize them before re-use.
